Fun Thursday morning (sarcasm) we get to the station to get on the bus for Figueras and there isn't one. Apparently the online time was not correct so we hung out at the station for about an hr and a half. Not a big deal, just inconvenient, off we went for our three hr ride. I should also mention we had to pay double for our tickets because only first class was available. Lets talk about hue difference! Leg room, seats reclined, had bars to put feet up on. Bill and I were giddy after getting over the delay and price. It was also funny because there was a total of three people in the car (including us)
In Figueras we headed right to our destination, because really we were only there for one reason- Salvador Dali. The crazy creative genius. His Treato-Museo (theatre- museum) was hilarious. Inside and out. His sculptures seem very haphazardly thrown together however, they kind of go together in the end to make it interesting. There is one piece that was 3-D which was very cool. You saw each piece of a face as you walked through the room and at the top of the steps you climbed to leave the room was a special lens that pulled everything together as a full picture. 'Persistence of Memory' is my favorite. Most likely because I did my first character/ piece study on it/ him when in high school. I just think the melting clocks are fun and quite symbolic. Really glad we went even though it was a little out of the way.
Back at the station to catch out train to Valencia...Guess what... No train! Now this is just getting old. We sit and come up with a new game plan which involves going back to Barcelona and taking the train from there to Valencia. So instead of getting in at 8 as originally planned, we were now getting in after 11. Back in first class because now that's the only way to travel (just kidding! It was actually the cheaper option)
Walking through the streets of Valencia at night was very peaceful and I got a great picture if the station and government building. Very beautiful.
So all told I think we spent about ten hours on the train. Yeah!
I think I’m greedy, but I’m not greedy for money - I think that can be a burden - I’m greedy for an exciting life.
