Madrid day 2

YWe were going to go to Segovia today, however, we didn't get up in time to catch the bus (didn't set alarm) the next bus wasn't until later so we decided to scrap it and do a better job tomorrow. Since we did so much yesterday, we had very little left to do in the city.

We headed to Rialto Park first. It is huge and we figured that with all of the ground to cover, statues, and fountains and such, we could easily kill time there. It was a very calm and relaxing morning into the after noon. We found a stand that had 1€ hot dogs so naturally we each got one for lunch.

Right across from that was an "interactive art museum" (tiny) and one artist built a dock and then used all kinds and hues of white and blue paper to create the water and waves. It was pretty cool.

We headed to what I thought would be the major attraction- the Crystal Palacw. I have seen pictures of this on line and it looks gorgeous. I was so excited! Yeeeeaah. It was a structure made of clear glass. No color, no amazing. Bummed.

We hung out for a little in the grass. Did some reading and people watching before heading to stand in line. The Prado Museum (and a few others) will let you in the last two hours of the day- on certain days- for free. We liked the sound of that so off we went to stand and wait. The museum was nice, and walking through I enjoyed it. I'm glad though that I didn't spent money to see it :)

Walking though the museum, like many, was stressful. When you get to a room you have six choices of which way to go. Did I go that way already? If I go that way will I miss things? How do I get back? I will be designing a museum for people with OCD where you follow one path. That way you are assured to see everything and not have to backtrack and constantly figure it out using the map.

Supermarket stop for dinner items and then back at the hostel for  the night. Tomorrow for real will be Segovia :)

Almost forgot! The Fountain I couldn't think if yesterday is call the Fointain of Cibeles (god of fertility) AND I saw the oldest standing/ functioning building in the world. Not Spain, World.
This is the restaurant certified by Guinness :)
