Florence finale

We decided to go out with a bang even though we are going to Venice for 2 days. However, it's really expensive there so there won't be any eating in restaurants for dinner if we can help it.

The morning was spent visiting the Basilica San Miniato al Monte- our last tourist location of Florence. The church was very pretty but the view of the city from there was even more gorgeous.

We stopped at the supermarket so Bill could get the much coveted muffins then off we went to pick up our bus tour of Tuscany. We ventured on a half day Chianti wine tour. The vineyard we visited was immense... and beautiful... and delicious :)

The owner/ tour guide was entertaining and very knowledgeable. He let us sample four wines, two balsamic vinaigrettes, and an olive oil. We had a small sampling of bread, cheese, and meats to go with everything. Did I discuss my love for pecorino cheese yet??? We learned that the black rooster (legend) is their official symbol and if it isn't on their bottle, it isn't from their region and authentic.

After this fabulous two hours of schooling and tasting, back to the bus with a nice buzz we go! We stopped off at a small town for the second tasting of wine and olive oil and by that time I was ready for a  nap, lol.

The tour ended us back in Florence and due to the fact that it was after 8, it was dinner time. Trattoria Bioco was chosen for the last meal and we did it right. An amazing cheese and spinach ravioli in a creamy meat sauce was our starter and I would of licked the plate if the server didn't take it. We then took the suggestion of many and got the insanely raved about 2 person bistecca alla fiorentina ( Italian steak) and roasted potatoes... Good.... Lord... To say we were stuffed is an understatement.

Pit stopped to see the duomo and baptistery at night. Tomorrow morning we pack it up and head to Venice. Ciao Florence!

Observations-
1) VERY trusting people here. With their kids, their dogs, their merchandise. Watched a guy today who closed up shop for lunch and left all of the outside displays out
2) death by Vespa- you don't have to worry about the cars here. It's the bikes and Vespas. They are crazy!
3) I'm the only one sweating. I swear! Well, Bill too, but I have seen people in pants and long sleeves. There was a guy in a flannel shirt!!! :(
